The Lions Clubs of Nova Scotia respectfully acknowledge that we live, work, and serve in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This land is governed by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship, which were first signed between the Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) Peoples and the British Crown in the 1700s. These treaties are still valid today, and they affirm the enduring relationship of peace, friendship, and mutual respect.
We recognize with gratitude the Mi’kmaq People who have cared for these lands and waters for millennia, and we honour their deep cultural and spiritual connections to this place. As Lions, committed to service, fellowship, and community, we recognize our collective responsibility as treaty people to learn about, respect, and uphold these agreements.
The Lions Clubs of Nova Scotia also affirm our commitment to reconciliation and to working together in a spirit of mutual understanding and respect, as we continue our mission of service to all communities across the province.
